Week 5, 2016

AD (2-2) Vs Jimmy (2-2)
Power Ranking 8th Vs 5th

AD leads the series 11-8, but Jimmy's won 3 of the last 5 and 6 of the last 9 including a complete demolishing week 6 last year.  Both teams are 2-2 and see 3-2 a far better place to be than 2-3 after 5 weeks.  No Drew Brees, but no Allen Robinson in this one.

Jimmy favored +6 or so once he fills his roster.

Chad (0-4) Vs Kurt (0-4)
Power Ranking 14th Vs 15th

Kurt leads the series 6-4, but Chad won 3 of the last 4 they played.  If misery loves company, these two should be happy this week.  Somebody is going to win this and have at least a little life in them.  The other is going to be 0-5 and in spoiler mode beginning week 6.  It won't be what they can do, but what they can keep others from doing.  Which, there can be some enjoyment in that role for a sick twisted mind.  Who'd have thought the two teams with Aaron Rodgers & Tom Brady would be 0'fer?

Chad favored +1.

LaRon (3-1) Vs Cow (3-1)  ***Game of the Week***
Power Ranking 3rd Vs 4th

LaRon leads the series 3-1, they didn't play each other last year.  When you're 3-1, 3-2 isn't a nightmare, but 4-1 is mouth-watering after 5 weeks.  That's where both are, looking for that 4th win.  Cow has consistently scored 100+ all 4 weeks, while LaRon has three weeks of 120+ and one week where he scored in the 80s.  It's still early in the season, but this is one of those games that one looks at later in the season as either the turning point that cost the division or the game that propelled the team to it.

Cow favored +5

Alex (1-3) Vs Dustin (3-1)  ***Tsunami Alert***
Power Ranking 16th Vs 11th

Alex leads the series 1-0.  We almost couldn't have two more polar teams going against each other.  Alex is currently in free-fall, losing the last two weeks miserably.  He's trying to stop the bleeding that began late last year but just can't yet.  Dustin, however, is coming off a huge Bullock Bowl win and riding a three week winning streak.  To make things worse, Alex has all sorts of bye week problems that don't seem to have an answer.  This one could be ugly folks.

Dustin favored by like +50

Matt (1-3) Vs Beas (4-0)  ***2nd Tsunami Warning***
Power Ranking 7th Vs 1st

Beas leads the series 8-1, winning the first 8 and just losing week 6 of last year.  That's "bitch" territory no matter how one looks at it.  One can try and sugarcoat it somehow, make excuses, or pretend it's something it's not, but there's really no other way to see it.  To make things even worse, because it's possible, Matt has major bye week & roster problems this week.  I can literally (figuratively) hear Beas laughing all the way from Austin.

Beas favored by like +30

John (2-2) Vs Adrian (3-1)
Power Ranking 2nd Vs 12th

Series tied 1-1, split last year.  Both teams have scored 100+ the last two weeks after both had disappointing week 2 performances.  Adrian's low Power Ranking is mainly due to that week 2 dud, but his 100+ have been on the low end.  John's had good scoring, thus the high Power Ranking.  Good match-up here.  Adrian has a couple of bye week issues to handle before the games start but I'm sure he'll fill out his roster.

John favored around +10

Rick (3-1) Vs Chip (2-2)
Power Ranking 13th Vs 9th

1st match-up.  Rick's 3-1 despite a 13th Power Ranking. It's mainly because Rick benefited from a win over Alex where he only scored 74.5 points.  That being said, Rick had a coming out moment last week leading the league with 147.93 points.  Chip, so far, has been below average two weeks, for losses, and above average two weeks, for wins.  So basically he's been Goldilocks, not to hot, not to cold.  Consistency, however, does have it's virtue.  Carson Palmer ruled out this week and all Chip has is Alex Smith, who's on a bye.

Unclear at the moment, but surely Rick will be favored around +10

Pitch (2-2) Vs Papa (1-3)
Power Ranking 6th Vs 10th

Pitch leads the series 2-1, winning the last two but those were back in 2011 & 2013.  Obviously didn't play each other in 2014 or 2015, which is weird but not unheard of or wholly uncommon the way we have the league set-up.  This is a game to watch because there's a lot on the line for both.  Both are in divisions that if they were to lose they might get left behind.  It's at least a concern this early in the season for both.

Papa favored around +10-15 once Pitch fills his roster out.
