Path to the Playoffs

2015 - Matt

A year end review

Draft - 4th pick

1)  Jamaal Charles - INJ, again
2)  Russell Wilson
3)  Golden Tate
4)  Jeremy Maclin
5)  Greg Olsen - Early maybe but value paid off
6)  Michael Floyd - Big value
7)  Arian Foster - Really? We let Foster fall to the 7th round? He got hurt again anyway.
8)  Brian Quick - Throw away
9)  Bishop Sankey
10)  Andre Williams
11)  Philadelphia Defense
12)  Montee Ball
13)  Allen Hurns - WTF! What were the rest of us doing?
14)  Cody Parkey
15)  Hawkins

Week 1 0-0 Matt Vs Cow 0-0

A loss (69.81 - 93.20) Disappointing to begin a fantasy season with a loss, but especially scoring less than 70 points.  The one bright for week 1 was Jamaal Charles' 21.30 points, but that would not be a preview of the season to come, nor would this loss.

Week 2 0-1 Matt Vs AD 0-1

A loss (93.38 - 132.93) Wilson, Charles, Tate, and Olsen all looked good to decent.  Started Floyd who didn't play so got a 0 there, but there was nothing on the bench that would have made the difference.  Was there something in Free Agency?

Week 3 0-2 Matt Vs John 2-0

A win (156.95 - 95.65) Well, hello scoring.  Charles and Olsen score over 30 each and Maclin was just 2 points shy of 30.  After two blah, blah weeks, Matt seems to have put it together here.  The team begins to take shape and looks like there might be something good here.

Week 4 1-2 Matt Vs Alex 3-0

A loss (77.45 - 128.80)  Maclin and Charles were good again but basically nothing from everyone else.  This is the first week Cody Parkey goes on IR and Matt plays him.  Let's see how many weeks this goes.
Arian Foster is back but not really ready to be played, but he was in there anyway.

Week 5 1-3 Matt Vs Jimmy 2-2

A loss (91.65 - 122.15)  Kicker is on IR and it's Greg Olsen's bye week, but played them both nonetheless.  May not have made a difference, may have.  Foster looks better.  Hurns was good on the bench. The big news is Jamaal Charles' injury, done for the season.  Say goodbye to your #1 pick and hello to a 1-4 start.

Week 6 1-4 Matt Vs Beas 4-1

A win (137.45 - 105.11)  A new kicker and a full line-up results in a big win.  Foster, Olsen, and the Philadelphia Defense score big. Everyone else contributes. Losing Charles hurts but there seems to be some pretty good depth on the team.  Between Tate, Floyd, Hurns, and Maclin, Matt can only start three so one will always be on the bench.  It's about making the right choice.

Week 7 2-4 Matt Vs Rick 0-6

A win (90.81 - 43.05)  What's the best cure for a 1-4 start and a season on the brink?  Playing Rick in 2015.  Foster goes for 29 points and Matt's new kicker is 2nd on the team in scoring with 16.  For the second time of the season, Matt starts a player who isn't playing.  Maclin goes for 0, but when your opponent only scores 43 points, you can get away with some mistakes. Fortune favors Matt this week. Or does it?  Arian Foster to the IR.  Now what?  Jamaal Charles and Arian Foster on the IR!

Week 8 3-4 Matt Vs Pitch 5-2

A win (104.88 - 68.50)  43.05 last week and 68.50 this week?  Yeah, easy wins.  A new RB in Antonio Andrews (who?) and a full line-up gets the easy win.  Michael Floyd and Greg Olsen score well.  Despite the injuries and mismanagement, Matt is a win away from .500 and he gets it.

Week 9 4-4 Matt Vs Adrian 2-6

A loss (103.75 - 137.75)  The two week gift from the football gods ends.  For the third time this season, Matt starts a player who isn't playing.  Again, it may not have mattered, it may have.  To be fair, it was a massive bye week for Matt with Wilson, Tate, Maclin, and Floyd all off.  Matt Cassell was an excellent pick and play scoring 27.65.

Week 10 4-5 Matt Vs Papa 3-6

A loss (92.76 - 128.55)  Adrian last week, Papa this week, Texans are feasting on Matt the last two weeks.  Michael Floyd scores 30.30 on the bench.  It's tough leaving one of those WRs on the bench.  Which one doesn't play?  RB position is below average to weak to poor with all the injuries.  Now 4-6, are Playoffs even attainable?  Too far gone?  Would have to win 4 straight just for a shot.

Week 11 4-6 Matt Vs Irving 5-5

A win (82.24 - 68.42) Are you serious?  For the 4th time this season, Matt starts a player who doesn't play.  And with the Playoffs on the line! And he gets the win!  Russell Wilson goes off for 32 points and Tate chips in 17 along with some scraps from the others for the win.  That's Matt's 3rd win over an opponent who doesn't score higher than 69 points!

Week 12 5-6 Matt Vs Cow 5-6

A win (133.71 - 94.26)  Hello, what's this?  Russell Wilson scores 46.65 points!  Maclin goes for 31 and Tate scores well.  New addition Thomas Rawls is serviceable.  Good pick up. Big division win.

Week 13 6-6 Matt Vs AD 6-6

A win (158.90 - 110.14) What the ? is going on?  Russell Wilson scores 41.80 and Maclin goes for 27.50 and everyone else scores really well.  Out of nowhere it seems, Matt has come on with two huge games within the division to set himself up to actually win the division next week.  Winner takes the division in next week's game against John.

Week 14 7-6 Matt Vs John 7-6

A win (128.84 - 110.15) Matt wins the Division!  Four straight wins, three within the Division, and Matt secures the #4 Seed and the Division Title.  Russell Wilson scores 45.20 to make 40+ 3 weeks in a row.  Tate and Hurns score well.  Russell Effing Wilson who are you?!  What a final 3 weeks!  Wow!
