Okie Basketball

With the draft just 3 days away, I thought it would be cool to see some of the more impressive fantasy basketball players over the years. There is no real order other than leading off with the best player of all time:

Michael Jordan: 1986-87. Michael played all 82 games and finished with avgs. of
37.1 pts 5 reb 5 ast 2.9 stl 1.5 blk. he had 48 fg. and 85 ft. percentages. He didn't shoot a lot of 3's but who cares. I don't know about you but on top of the 37 pts avg, the 2.9 stl and 1.5 blk are proof this man was no man at all.

Scottie Pippen: 1994-95. I could not mention Michael without reminding you how legit Scottie was. This particular year Scottie finished with avgs. of 21 pts 8 reb 5 ast 2.9 stl 1.5 blk. He shot 48% from the field and 71% from the line. Oh, and he avg. 1.1 3's a game. If you needed any proof why the Bulls were so dominate, just look again at the steals and blocks for both guys. 2.9 and 1.5! These Bulls stole or blocked the ball and ran with it to the other end of the court and scored at will.

Hakeem Olajuwon: 1989-90. Hmmm. I wonder who won the championship the 2 years Michael played baseball. Granted this is not the particular year but I couldn't pass up showing you the stats the Dream put up. While not his best scoring season ever, it was a dominate one as he put up 24pts 14 reb 3 ast. 2.1 stl and 4.6 blks a game! He shot 50% from the field and was a 71% ft shooter. The dream, simply put, was a beast.

Charles Barkley: 1987-88. This is turible, or not. Barkley had a great statistical season this year. He averaged 28 pts 12 reb 3 ast 1.3 stl 1.3 blk shooting 58% fg and 75% from the line. And surprising to me, he avg .6 3's a game. I really do not remember him shooting 3's. Barkley was a great player and being undersized did not stop him from rebounding the ball.

Patrick Ewing: 1989-90. This guy was not pretty but was a great looking ball player. This season Patrick averaged 29 pts 11 reb 2 ast 1 stl and 4 blks. He shot 55% from the field and was a 75% ft shooter.

David Robinson: 1993-94. The Admiral was known as a soft player for his size but does it matter? He averaged 30 pts 11 reb 5 ast 1.7 stl and 3.3 blks. He shot 50% fg and 75% ft. Looking at the big men of the past, I have to say they were better shooters. In 91-92 the Admiral avg. 4.5 blks but the 30 pt avg made me go a couple years later.

John Stockton: 1990-91. The original Steve Nash. I was not a huge fan of the Jazz but I did respect them. Stock averaged 17 pts 3 reb 14 ast 2.9 stl and .7 3's. He shot 50% fg and 84% ft. I believe Stock is the career steals leader in the NBA, so obviously he played defense.

Karl Malone: 1990-91. Like Michael and Scottie, you can't mention Stockton without Malone. This year Malone avg. 29 pts 12 reb 3 ast 1 stl 1 blk 52 fg and 77 ft. The pick and roll was perfected by these 2.

Larry Bird: 1984-85. The legend had a great statistical year by averaging 28 pt 11 reb 6 ast 1.6 stl and 1.2 blks. He shot 52% and 82% respectively.

Magic Johnson: 1986-87. Take your pick as far as what year was his statistical best. We are talking about Magic. This particular year he averaged 24 pts 6 reb 12 ast 1.7 stl and .5 blk. He shot 52% fg and 85% ft.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: 1975-76. Wow! 28 pts 17 reb 5 ast 1.5 stl and 4 blks 53% fg
70 ft%.

Wilt Chamberlain: 1961-62. 50 pts 25 reb 2.4 ast 50% fg 61% ft. Blocks and steals were not even "invented" yet but I couldn't pass up showing the points and rebounds avg.

Well, I know there are many other players that are worthy of being on this list but I've spent enough time already. Good luck to those participating in Okie Basketball.

  3. He has a lead in assist by a little over 4800. Kidd avgs 9.2 assist per game in his career. That would mean IF kidd kept that average and IF he played all 82 games it would take him 6.47 more seasons to pass stockon. AMAZING

  5. I forgot to mention Stockton as the assist leader. We can see by the stats, why he is and will be for a while.

  6. I miss Mugsey Bogues (sp?) too. But not really all that much.

Can you all imagine if the Thunder had a young David Robinson? Damn.

  7. Just seeing if I figured this out. I wrote the comment on how far ahead stockton is compared to second place. No way Kidd catches up with him
