Scoring info

Under the "League Scoring" tab, I've added a new sheet that calculates the average scores of each team for each different position.  It shows where each team is strong or weak compared to the averages of all teams.  For example, who knew that Kyle led the league in scoring from the Kicker position?  That's just weird and creepy.

Week 13 Preview

Laron and Randy have clinched playoff spots.  That's two down and four to go.  While Randy has clinched a playoff spot, he has not clinched his division.  Kurt and Dustin still have a shot at the division and/or a wild card spot.  Cow still has a shot at making the playoffs via the wild card.  While Jimmy hasnt mathematically clinched, he basically has, one more win will do it.  The tie between Chad & Kyle may potentially screw with the standings, ties usually do.  The tie basically could mean that 7-7 wont make the playoffs, in fact, i'm quite sure now that 7-7 wont make the playoffs, unless of course, Chad & Kyle both lose their final two games.  Frank Gore's injury was huge, as it gave Rick a huge lead, but I think the fight in the Texas Division is far from over.

On to the match-ups...

End of year award voting.

Ok, so I'm going to put up two polls, one for Manager of the Year and another for league Player of the Year.  We have two weeks left in the regular season, so you dont have/need to vote on them yet.  Deadline will be Midnight Monday the 13th.

Just as a frame of reference, I'm voting for a manager that drafted well, traded well, and acquired talent via free agency.  Someone who made tough decisions and came out the better for it.  Overall record and points scored will go into consideration, but not be the only criteria I use.  Basically, when one looks at all the teams and all that has transpired throughout the year, who's done the best job managing their team this year?

Same goes for Player of the year.  What player impacted their team's success?  Who was consistent?  Who had an outstanding year? It's not always the guy who scores the most points, I think, although it often has been.  Just a couple of thoughts to consider over the next few weeks.

Week 12 Player of the Week

Who is this guy?  Seriously, is this the same guy that started the season wearing #82 for the Kansas City Chiefs?

13 receptions
for 170 yards
and 3 touchdowns

adding up to 48 points

makes Dwayne Bowe the Player of the Week for week 12.

and just as a side note, since week 6, Bowe has scored 197 points.

Week 12 Preview - Divisional Play

The time has come. Non-divisional games have ended. The race for the playoffs truly begins. These next three weeks and then the playoffs are where true rivalries are born. These are the games that bring forth the bragging rights for years to come. These are the moments we remember. Here are the weeks that defeat crushes and victory exhorts.

Division Play

Week 11 Player of the Week

7 Receptions
152 Yards
3 Touchdowns

for 40 points

Extending Randy's winning streak to 7 games in the process, makes Greg Jennings the Player of the week.  Congratulations.

How about 3 Franchise Tags?

I've actually thought much about expanding the number of tags for each team. It would be nice on occasion to keep up to three players, maybe more. I believe that the franchise tag is one of the more exciting options we've added through the years. No doubt made Draft Day more intriguing. But what affect would such a change pose to the league? That’s the question we have to toil with when deciding any such question.

2010 - The Lord Walter Camp Division Cup

It is with great joy and honor we present this year’s best division award. It takes meticulous research and hours upon hours of careful calculation to determine the ultimate winner. Every detail must be thoroughly analyzed and evaluated to ensure the credibility, validity, and accuracy of the final conclusion and outcome. Using a strictly secret cipher, one division is selected from amongst its peers as the elite division of the year. The Division Cup is awarded to that division which separated itself and rose above the others declaring its supremacy.  Though the final results were extremely close between two contenders, one division did indeed set itself apart for the second year in a row.

So, without further ado, the winner of the 2010 Division Cup is…

Week 11 Preview

This is the last week for non-divisional regular season games.  The 2nd round of divisional games begins next week.

With the trade deadline come and gone, we now turn our focus squarely on the free agent pool, circling like sharks around a pool of blood.  Who will that player be that arises at the end of the season to lead a team to the championship?  Who will be the team that picks that player before anyone else can snag him?  With only four weeks left in the regular season, it is now crunch time.  Every loss spells certain doom, while every win gives hope for at least one more week.  Too dramatic? Yeah probably.

On to this weeks match-ups...

Trading Post - Final Edition

In a year that has seen a record pace of waiver wire additions and trades, it appears the trade deadline will come and go with a whimper.

I expected for there to be multiple trades this week and especially these last final couple of days.  Nope, didn't happen.  Perhaps everyone has traded to the point where either they are satisfied or just don't have the assets it takes to initiate more trades.

Either way, the deadline has come and gone.  The Trading Post is now closed for business. (till August)

BEWARE!!!

It's that time of year.  Thursday and Saturday night games.  Pay attention or they can pop up and bite you.

I just noticed there is a game tonight!

Baltimore Vs Atlanta tonight 7:00 PM

If you have players in these games, get them in or get them out.

Week 10 Preview

With nine weeks in the books, the playoff picture begins to become clearer.  There are still plenty of games left (5 regular season games) to go so teams have time to make up ground or lose position.  There are two more weeks of non-division games and then the 2nd round of division games begin.  Friday marks the trade deadline, so if a team is going to make any moves (via trade), they'd better get after it.  After Friday, the only way to improve a roster will be through the free agent market.  We all know how overly abundant the talent level is there.

On to this weeks previews...

Week 9 Player of the Week

Peyton Hillis

One of, if not the, suprise impact players of this season.  I mean, who saw this coming?

185 yards rushing, 2 rushing TDs, 3 receptions for 36 yards, and 1 fumble for a total of 33 points

100 Greatest.

The NFL Network has released it's list for the 100 Greatest Players.  Inevitably, anytime a list comes out, debate ensues.  Suprisingly, to me anyway, Jerry Rice was named #1.  I'm actually ok with that.  He was a stud and no other WR can compete with him.  There are some interesting rankings throughout the list and the site has a "fans" list as well.

Check it out, I think it's pretty cool.

By the way, the guy pictured left, gets my vote for greatest all time.  For those too young to have seen him play, you missed out on something very special.

So who is your #1?

Week 8 Player of the Week

Congratulations, David Garrard.
17 completions
4 incompletions
260 passing yards
4 passing touchdowns
1 rushing touchdown
3 sacks
1 fumble
for a total of 42 points.
Totally destroyed the Cowboys, course, who hasn't lately?
Nice Start, Chado.

Trading Post

I think I missed a previous trade.

Pitch sent the Minnesota Defense to Jimmy for RB C.J. Spiller

That trade has been completed. We have a pending trade as well.

AD sends RB Ronnie Brown, RB Ricky Williams, and WR Wes Welker to Randy for RB Ryan Mathews and QB Michael Vick.

Just a reminder (again) the trade deadline is November 12th. That's next Friday.

Week 9 Preview

Week 9. We have two 6-2 teams, four 5-3 teams, five 4-4 teams, and everyone else scrambling to keep up. By no means is the race for the playoffs over, in truth, it's just getting started. With six regular season games (weeks) left, most everyone is still in the mix, even if it looks more daunting for some than others. Keep in mind, the trade deadline is less than 10 days from now. So for those hoping to make some last minute moves to improve their rosters, time is shortening.
On to the previews...

Hello Goodbye - Randy Moss

Vikings waive Randy Moss after giving up 3rd round pick for him. Wow. That didnt last long.

UPDATE: Randy Moss is now a Titan. Hello, Randy. Fire up the video, again.

Okie Basketball 7

Week 1 Review

Ad vs Raging Bulls

Ad starts off firing on all cylinders this year and is trying to win his 2nd Okie Championship, his 1st coming back in 2004. Ad had a great draft despite losing his hopes of getting KD35. Ad finished Runner-up in 05, and finished 3rd in 06,07. The Bulls, in the league since 04, has 1 title (08) 1 2nd place finish(04) and 2 bronze trophies (05,09).

Chavez vs Double Dribblers

This was a close one but Chavez pulled off the victory and has a nice start to the season. Chavez is trying to get back that mojo from last year when he won his 1st Okie title. He has finished 2nd once in 07 and has no Bronze trophies.

E vs Hash
Ewood defeats hash week 1. E played last year for the 1st time and made playoffs finishing 6th. He lost in the 1st round and is back to get revenge on the league. Hash has been in the league since 05 finishing 13th ,8th ,4th , 8th , 12th in that span. We will see if he makes any lineup changes this year, if not, he may lose every game.

Daddy Fat Sacks vs Southside Ballhugger

This one was very close until Saturday when the Ballhuggers turned it on. These 2 teams will be very good all year and could possibly meet in the playoffs. Daddy fat Sacks has been in the league since its inception (I want to see that movie) and has 1 championship (06), two 2nd place finishes 08,09 and a bronze in 04. Ballhuggers came into the league a year later and has 2 titles (05,07) a 2nd place finish in 06 and a bronze in 08.

That is your week 1 review. Good luck the rest of the season to all players and GO THUNDER!
