Smooth Moves by Hitters

  • Hitters won despite having only 2 of their 8 starters exceed their projected points.
  • With 21.00 points scored versus a projected 11.72, the Cincinnati Bengals Defense scored more points than projected for four straight games.
  • John Brown has now overachieved in three straight games after scoring 17.30 points against a projected 12.10.
  • Even with a zero from starter Stevie Johnson, Hitters was still able to win.
  • Perhaps this is how backups become starters. Hitters won with four players on the bench that did not play this week.

Toyota Roster Tune-up

  • Losing is a proven way not to win a game. For a more successful season, try not losing.
  • Could have started the Atlanta Falcons Defense, which underachieved, but still outscored the starting DEF with 7.00 against a projected 7.88.
  • Lost the matchup even though Hitters had their lowest-scoring week of the season.
  • Kendall Wright has now failed to reach his projection for three straight games. This week he scored 5.80 points versus a projected 11.55.
  • The 6.40 points scored by Adrian Peterson was a season-low for both scoring and for his performance against projections. He reached only 35.6% of his 18.00 projected points this week.

What If

  • If Hitters played Cow every week, they would be 8-5 this season.
  • Besides Cow, Hitters would have beaten only one other team this week.
  • Were they resting their players for this week? Hitters would have defeated Cow 109.15 - 94.26 had they played each other last week.
  • Hitters would be 3-8 if they played the same schedule as Cow.
  • If Hitters had played every team in the league each week, they would be 82-113.
  • Besides Hitters, Cow would have been defeated by 13 other teams this week.
  • If they played the same schedule as Hitters, Cow would be 6-5.
  • If they played every team every week, Cow would be 72-123.

Game Notes

  • Hitters had three starters who scored more points than the highest-scoring starter for Cow.
  • Cow scored 59.19 points against a projected 91.31 and underachieved for the seventh time this season, including the last three weeks in a row.
  • The Toyota Hall of Fame recommends Cow go on a WINNING streak, instead of a LOSING streak. That one word makes a surprising amount of difference.
  • Hitters had the lowest winning score in the league this week with 70.85 points.
  • Hitters underachieved in the win, improving to 2-4 when failing to reach their projected points this season, while Cow falls to 1-6 when scoring below their projected points.
  • The 59.19 points put up by Cow ranked 15th in the league this week.
  • In the loss, Dustin Hopkins scored 10.00 points against a projected 7.06 and exceeded his scoring projection by 41.6%.
  • Eli Manning, who had the highest projected points in the matchup, fell short of scoring projections with 15.05 points against a projected 22.25.
