OkieSports Hall of Fame Induction...

Congratulations Marshall Faulk

This first year was really kind of a no-brainer.  There are several players who deserve to enter the OkieSports Hall of Fame and they will eventually.  But there is really only one player who deserved to be the first.

I don't remember, and it's not recorded, who had Marshall in 1999.  Marshall had a crazy year in 1999.  1381 rushing 1048 receiving and 87 receptions and 12 total TDs.  I want to say Doc had Marshall that year.  Maybe someone else remembers?  I do know who had him in 2000 and Marshall lead Brent to a championship that season.  Marshall rushed for 1359 yards with 18 rushing TDs.  He added 81 receptions for 830 yards with 8 receiving TDs.  Just incredible, in fact, Marshall had 5 straight seasons of over 80 receptions.  Having Faulk was like having a running back and an extra wide receiver in one player.

Faulk took home the OkieSports awards for best running back, league MVP, and Championship Game MVP in 2000.  He was the first player to win the trifecta.  Yes, the league was young, but that feat wouldn't be duplicated by another player until Arian Foster in 2010.

With the first pick of the 2001 draft, Kyle selected Marshall Faulk.  Kyle basically won the championship on draft night and we didn't know it.  Marshall ran for 1382 yards and 12 TDs and added 83 receptions for 765 yards and 9 TDs.  Again, stupid numbers to get out of one guy.  Faulk would once again, back-to-back, win the Walter Payton Award, League MVP, and Championship Game MVP.

4 players have accomplished that feat in league history.  Marshall Faulk did it twice 2000 & 2001.  Arian Foster did it in 2010.  Adrian Peterson did it in 2012.  And Antonio Brown did it in 2014.  Those are our "Triple Crown" winners over the last 18 years, this being season 19, and Marshall Faulk did it twice.

Marshall would go on to have good seasons in 2002 & 2003.  Not as spectacular as 99-01, but still very good fantasy seasons.  And in 2003 would be on his third championship team as DD's running back of choice.

So Marshall Faulk finished his OkieSports Fantasy Football career with...

3 Championships (2000, 2001, & 2003)
2 Walter Payton Awards (2000 & 2001)
2 OkieSports League Player MVPs (2000 & 2001)
2 Championship Game MVPs (2000 & 2001)

Congratulations to Marshall Faulk for an incredible career and job well done to all the guys (and girls) who found a way to get him on their teams.
